Inevitable Reunion : Chapter 12

Malik awoke to darkness. The sight of it made him cry out in fear as he quickly hugged himself to try to keep from shaking. From a young age, he had been scared of the dark. And now it was all he could see.

For a moment, he wondered if this was what death was like. After all, he didn't feel any pain. And a crash like that should've hurt right?

But then he noticed how the shadows swam with purple. His heart sank. He was back in the Shadow Realm?! But how-?!

"You certainly are a troublesome one," a voice echoed from all around Marik. "Not that that's anything new. You always were impossibly frustrating."

The sound of the voice made Marik's head ache with sudden pain. It was low and almost booming despite the normal volume of it. Something about the sound of it filled Marik with dred, and the very core of his being screamed out in warning.

"W-What do you want?!" he demanded, trying and failing to sound more confident than he actually felt.

The voice chuckled. "What are you shaking for? You have no reason to fear me. I still have use for you, so I won't allow you to die just yet. I have no interest in broken toys."

"I'm no one's toy!" Malik protested. He whirled around, squinting at the darkness. "Where the frig are you, damnit?!"

The laughter that filled the area chilled Malik to the bone. "I am everywhere," the voice answered. "I am the darkness."

"Who are you?!" Malik demanded, starting to get really freaked out now. He couldn't stop shaking. "Please, leave me the frig alone!"

Two glowing red eyes shone through the darkness above the Egyptian as a monster began to take form.  "I am Zorc, the ruler of darkness," it growled. "And you are mine!"

Malik screamed as the shadows rushed around him. He jolted awake, screaming for Rishid.
